Melodie Smith is the Executive Director of CASA of Paulding County, Inc. She has been with the CASA organization for thirteen years serving previously as a CASA volunteer, Board Member and Volunteer Coordinator. Presently Mrs. Smith serves as a GA CASA Board Member.
Melodie and her husband Danny live in Dallas, GA. They have been married for thirty years and have two children, Taylor, 28 and Colton, 22. Taylor and her husband Josh have given the family their first grandchild, Hudson who is the joy of all their lives! The family spends time together working out, attending sporting events, and going to the beach!
When asked why she enjoys working for CASA, Melodie says:
The most compelling reason that I work for CASA is that I believe very strongly in the mission of CASA. I believe that one of the most effective ways to combat the incidence of child abuse is to educate and motivate the community to take action to recognize and report abuse and neglect. Children should not have to worry about where they will live, the next meal they may get, having a safe place to lay their head at night, exposed to drugs, domestic violence and abuse. All children need a safe, permanent and loving home. No child deserves less!
Melodie shared “It is each and every one of our responsibility – our moral obligation to assure the basic rights and needs of every child are met. Our children need to do more than simply survive. They need to thrive, in the safety and love of a family throughout their childhood and into adulthood. Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
